We have several pre-set volunteer dates planned throughout the year for those who'd like to come help out around the sanctuary. Please see the graphic below and the information following it for dates, information and guidelines. No volunteer application is required for these volunteer work sessions.

In addition, we are on the lookout for long-term volunteers who are able to donate their time on a more regular basis and help us with projects such as fundraising, event-planning, grant research, and outreach, in addition to hands-on work around the sanctuary. If you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer, please contact us for a volunteer application.

We can also accept "virtual volunteers" who are not able to come to our sanctuary, but still want to help. These types of volunteers work on research and outreach projects for us from their homes. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a virtual volunteer.

Volunteer Information & Guidelines

Volunteer Sessions

Volunteer sessions will run from 9am-noon and must be pre-arranged via email. We ask that you notify us as soon as possible if you cannot make it to your scheduled session so that we may make adjustments, as necessary.

Age Restrictions

Volunteers must be eight years of age or older. Any volunteer under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Volunteer sessions will take place regardless of weather. The only exceptions would be heavy downpours, high winds, or thunderstorms. In the rare case that we have to cancel or postpone a volunteer session due to weather, we will make every attempt to notify volunteers before they arrive.

Dress Code

You will very likely get a little dirty during your volunteer session, so please do not wear your best clothes or shoes to the sanctuary! Please dress appropriately for the outdoors and bring work gloves if you have them. Closed-toe shoes are required to enter animal enclosures.

Our Location

We are located in Vineland, NJ. Our founders’ home is located on sanctuary grounds. Out of respect for their privacy and for the safety of our animals, we kindly ask that you do not share our address or visit without an appointment. Volunteers will receive our address in an email confirmation. Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can.

Release from Liability Waiver

All volunteers will be required to read, sign and agree to abide by a Release from Liability Waiver before they can begin volunteering at the sanctuary.

Interacting with the Animals

Our animals have a wide range of personalities, and although most are very friendly, we ask that you respect them and their willingness to stand for petting, brushing, photos, etc. Unless asked to do so for a certain task, we ask that you do not corral/move or pick up any of the animals.

Volunteers may bring a snack or meal to eat on break during their volunteer shifts, but out of respect for our animal residents and the nature of our work, we uphold a vegan policy on sanctuary grounds. Please do not bring anything containing, meat, dairy (including cheese), or eggs. Please do not bring food into animal enclosures -- they will try to take it from you! Water bottles are permitted at all times in all areas.

Smoking is not permitted on sanctuary grounds.

Companion Animals and Service Animals

Because most of our sanctuary residents are, by nature, prey animals, we ask that you do not bring any companion animals onto the premises. For this same reason, we cannot allow service animals onto the sanctuary. Please do not leave your animals in your parked car!

We have a “port-a-potty” for guest and volunteer use, however, it is NOT wheelchair accessible.

Unfortunately, the sanctuary is not yet wheelchair-accessible.
